Site Visit and Stakeholder Discussion on RDF Business Model in Cimahi

From June 25 to 27, 2025, UNDP Country Office Indonesia and Bappenas through the Directorate of Housing and Settlement Infrastructure Areas led a high-impact site visit and technical stakeholder discussion in Cimahi City, West Java Province, focusing on the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) business model as part of the Sustainable Infrastructure Programme in Asia (SIPA) initiative. The event brought together national and regional government institutions also development partners to delve into the real-world application of circular economy solutions through sustainable waste-to-energy (WtE) infrastructure.

As part of the agenda, participants also conducted a site visit to Cimahi’s waste treatment facility, providing a tangible example of circular economy solutions in practice. The visit to the waste treatment facility (Tempat Pengelolaan Sampah Terpadu-TPST) Sentiong, Cimahi, an RDF plant that has been operational since 2024, showcased a practical model of mechanical treatment. The facility is designed to process 50 tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) per day, although its current operational capacity stands at approximately 20–25 tons per day. With a calorific value of 3,400 kcal/kg, the RDF product from Cimahi is already being co-processed by major off takers such as Indocement.
