Strengthening Policy, Technical, and Financing Pathways: Second FGD on Indonesia’s RDF Roadmap

On 18 February 2025, Bappenas and UNDP through the SIPA Programme organized the Second Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Indonesia’s RDF Roadmap as part of the ongoing effort to strengthen integrated waste management and support low-carbon development. The FGD brought together representatives from ministries, local governments, private sector, academia, and development partners to review findings from the gap analysis and discuss key challenges in scaling up RDF nationwide. Discussions highlighted the importance of clear institutional arrangements, standardized technical guidelines, sustainable financing schemes, and stronger collaboration between producers and offtakers. The outcomes of this FGD will serve as a foundation for drafting the national RDF Roadmap, which aims to accelerate circular economy practices, reduce landfill dependency, and contribute to Indonesia’s climate commitments.

Building on the insights of this discussion, the roadmap will provide practical recommendations for both policymakers and practitioners, ensuring that RDF initiatives are inclusive, adaptable, and aligned with Indonesia’s broader development priorities. The next steps will focus on consolidating stakeholder input into the draft roadmap, with a view to finalizing and disseminating the document in the coming months as a guiding framework for the nationwide scale-up of RDF production and utilization.
