National Dissemination and Dialogue: Advancing Sustainable Waste Management through End-to-End Approach and Waste-to-Energy

The National Dissemination and Dialogue: Towards Sustainable Waste Management through an End-to-End Approach and Waste-to-Energy Implementation Learning, held on 9 April 2026, marked a strategic milestone in strengthening policy direction and cross-sector collaboration on waste management in Indonesia. The event brought together representatives from national and local governments, industry, academia, and development partners to discuss key findings from comprehensive studies on Waste-to-Energy (WtE), including Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), as part of an integrated and sustainable waste management solution.

The forum provided a platform to share implementation lessons, challenges, and good practices in advancing WtE and RDF initiatives in Indonesia, while reinforcing the importance of a holistic, end-to-end waste management ecosystem. The discussions highlighted that effective waste management requires not only technological solutions, but also strong institutional frameworks, sustainable financing mechanisms, and behavioral change at the community level. The outcomes of this dissemination are expected to inform collaborative and actionable steps towards achieving national targets on sustainable waste management, circular economy, and net zero emissions in Indonesia.
